A Simple Visit, A Meaningful Experience

We recently spent time at a small elementary school in Cabulihan, Culion, Palawan. It was a simple visit, but a very meaningful one for us.
We talked with the students about what it means to become a doctor or a veterinarian. Instead of only explaining, we brought materials so they could try a few hands-on activities themselves. We showed them basic suturing techniques and how to prepare a cast for animals like goats. In rural communities, animals are an important part of daily life, so this felt practical and relatable.
The students were curious and eager to participate. Some were quiet at first, but once they started practicing, their confidence grew. They asked thoughtful questions and took the activities seriously. It was clear they were proud of what they were learning.
Our hope is not that every child becomes a doctor or veterinarian. Our hope is that they begin to see these careers as real possibilities. When students see what is possible, it can motivate them to work harder in school.
We also hope this experience encourages them to do well academically so they can qualify as scholars in our Self-Reliant Farm program. Education opens doors, and through the farm initiative, we want to support students who are committed to building a better future for themselves and their communities.
We are grateful for the warm welcome from the school and the families. If you would like to help us continue inspiring students in remote areas—through donations, volunteering, or spreading the word—we would be honored to have you join us.
