On April 20, we held our very first fundraising event, "Claws For a Cause: A Crab-tivating Fundraising Event," and it was a massive success! The afternoon was filled with delicious food, great company, and an overwhelming sense of community support.

Our dear friend, Dedy Jin, who used to own a restaurant, played a huge part in making the event special. Dedy cooked 90 pounds of crab along with many other mouth-watering dishes that had everyone coming back for seconds (and thirds!).

The event was attended by our extended family who live in Brentwood, California. It felt like a big family reunion! We were also joined by many nurses and health professionals who work with my husband, Dr. William Le, at the ICU in Kaiser Medical Center in Antioch. One nurse, Vicky Gibbs, went above and beyond by campaigning for our fundraiser at the hospital. Even those who couldn't attend made sure to donate, thanks to her efforts.

My long-time friends from Philippine Science High School showed up to support us. Friends from our alma maters, UC Berkeley and UERM Medical School, also joined in the celebration, adding to the night's celebration and nostalgia.

As word spread about our nonprofit, we were amazed by the outpouring of support from friends and family near and far. Those who couldn't attend the event, whether because they lived far away or had other commitments, also made generous donations online or by sending checks. This truly showed us how strong our community is, no matter the distance.

The event wasn’t just about good food and good company; it was also a chance for us to share the mission and projects of the WE Foundation. We talked about our goals to help poor and underserved communities in Culion. Seeing everyone's enthusiasm and support reinforced why we started this foundation in the first place.

The highlight of the evening was the sense of community and shared purpose. Whether it was family, friends, colleagues, or new acquaintances, everyone came together to make a difference. The generosity and kindness shown were truly inspiring.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who contributed to the success of "Claws For a Cause." Your support means the world to us and to the communities we aim to help. If you missed the event but would still like to contribute, we welcome donations and volunteers. Every bit helps, and together, we can make a significant impact.

Thank you all for making our first fundraising event a night to remember. We look forward to more events like this in the future and hope to see you there!
