Breaking Ground: How Our New Tractor and Excavator Are Transforming Culion

Updated: Apr 3

Big things are happening at WE Foundation! Thanks to our incredible supporters, we’ve made a game-changing investment for the community—a tractor and an excavator! These are not just machines; they are the key to unlocking new opportunities for farming, livelihood, and water access in Culion.

For years, Fr. John and the community had dreamed of acquiring these essential pieces of equipment. The cost, however, was a major hurdle, and without outside support, it would have taken years to gather the necessary funds. But because of your generosity, we’ve been able to fast-track two of our most crucial projects: the livelihood initiative and the water reservoir project.

The tractor will prepare the farmland for planting and clear out the deep roots of wild bamboo, which have long been a challenge for local farmers. With this, we can create more fertile, manageable land for crops that will sustain the community for years to come.

The excavator will focus on clearing the land we recently purchased for the dried fish processing facility, a cornerstone of our livelihood initiative. It will also be used to excavate areas for small dams and a water reservoir, ensuring a stable water source for the community.

This investment marks a historic first—our farm is the only one on the island to own this kind of equipment! Beyond our projects, this opens up an exciting possibility: we may even be able to rent out the equipment to other farmers and nearby communities, helping more people thrive.

None of this would have been possible without the unwavering support of our donors, volunteers, and dedicated partners. Because of you, we are not just changing lives—we are changing the landscape of Culion itself.

Thank you for believing in our mission and for making these transformative projects a reality. This is just the beginning! 🚜💙
